Phase 01 · Week 1 - 2
Metabolic Priming
Recalibrate insulin. Open the gate to fat oxidation.
Mechanism
Reset your baseline
Citation
Randle et al., 1994
During this phase, insulin sensitivity is improved through carbohydrate modulation. Lower insulin levels suppress malonyl-CoA, which inhibits CPT-1, the enzyme that shuttles fatty acids into mitochondria for oxidation.
CPT-1 Activation → Mitochondrial Entry
What to do
Cut out bread, pasta, rice, cereals, sugar, and processed snacks. Focus on vegetables, legumes, and whole food carbs only.
Why it works
Refined carbs spike insulin rapidly. High insulin activates malonyl-CoA, which directly blocks CPT-1, the enzyme that moves fatty acids into the mitochondria for burning. No insulin control = no fat oxidation.
